Last month’s International Food Club outing landed us in Korea…or at least very adjacent to K-town. It was a small but hungry group, with an honorary member, sister-in-law! (aka Brooke).
This month’s International Food Club outing was at Robert’s Russian Cuisine. I was bummed to find out that “Russian cuisine” does not involve dousing your food in vodka.
Memorial Day weekend. A day to celebrate and remember. The unofficial start of summer. And a time to have a poolside BBQ where you can see the varying degrees to which your friends react to the late-May LA sun. I’m personally sporting a gnarly racerback tank tan on my back. I will be spending my summer Fridays trying to even it out.
After trying to master its pronunciation (I’ve been told it’s “verst-kooh-schoo”), I then had to google its translation: meals made with sausage.
The International Food Club gathered once again this month and traveled to Germany DTLA. Enter Wurstküche, also known as (and easier to pronounce) “the beers and brats place downtown.”
The International Food Club (IFC…still looks like “Independent Film Channel” to me…) was back at it again this month, this time visiting Italy via Angelini Osteria. I won’t ever turn down a trip to my favorite (so far!) Italian restaurant in the city.
EXCUSE ME WHILE I FOODIE GEEK OUT FOR A MOMENT. Top Chef fans out there will understand my utter elation when I spotted Carla Hall (Season 5 and most recently, All-Stars) dining in the same restaurant. Whilst residing in LA, I’ve become accustomed to spotting a few famous faces, but have never really felt the inclination to be a rabid fangirl. (Although let’s be real. If Justin Timberlake or Leonardo DiCaprio were to be within eyesight, I might actually pass out. I clearly have not outgrown my childhood obsessions cough NSYNC and Titanic cough). But I digress.
